Mortise-and-Tenon

When a customer wants logs with rounded interior surfaces, for one of the most traditional interior looks in a log home, we often will use mortise-and-tenon log corner sections, familiar to anyone who knows the look of handcrafted furniture. Logs are fit together at the corners by cutting a tongue (the tenon) cut down from the end of one log into a slot (or mortise) of precisely equal shape and size cut into the end of the log it meets. This yields a tight, secure fit.
